About Us

A VERY EXTRA extracurricular

We believe that all students should have the chance to explore a world outside of their own. Since 2008, the Kids N Culture program has been using a combination of after-school curriculum and international travel experiences to teach students about our Common Humanity and to push them to think more critically about the larger world around them.

Experiential learning is transformative, but hardly accessible. That's why Kids N Culture was built as a fully-funded student program designed to close the opportunity gap for this type of life-changing experience.

The Kids N Culture curriculum is focused on building students’ confidence in themselves, empathy for others, and a sense of curiosity about the world around them. For the past 15 years, Kids N Culture has worked with over 260 student ambassadors across 29 countries to build the future leaders of tomorrow.

ABOUT US

OUR STORY

In 2008, Kids N Culture started as an afterschool program for a Harlem highschool. Since then, our program has grown to become a highly competitive citywide initiative that is working to make the world more accessible for all.

Even as the country is becoming more diverse, we seem to be as divided as ever. Whether on purpose or not, we tend to surround ourselves with people who look the same, act the same, worship the same, vote the same, and live lives generally the same as our own. These trends are having an impact on our education system as well. Despite being a cultural melting pot, New York City has one of the most segregated school districts in the country. The Kids N Culture Travel Program was structured to bridge this divide for youth in NYC.

We know firsthand that our minds are only as open as our experiences, and we’re committed to working with local students, schools, and organizations to continue bringing these life changing opportunities to the greater NYC area.
